Chipping on site is the cheaper option. Brush and limbs up to chipper capacity go through the machine and the chips either stay with you as mulch or get blown into the truck and hauled. Trunk wood too large to chip gets cut and hauled, or cut to stove length and left if you want firewood. Say which you want before we start; it changes the price and the truck we bring.
Full haul-off costs the most because disposal is charged by weight. On a big storm cleanup the difference between chipping in place and hauling everything can be several hundred dollars.
Lansing runs seasonal brush and yard waste collection with rules on length, diameter, and how it is bundled or placed. After a major storm the city sometimes adds special pickups. That covers material you have already cut and stacked at the curb correctly. It does not cover getting a tree off your garage, cutting up a trunk, or dragging a yard's worth of debris to the street.
